NO MORE TRAM TRACKS IN THOSE PATTERN REPEATS!!
If you've ever visited or live in Melbourne, Australia you would know that trams are an integral part of our existence! I LOVE them! Everyday I hear them rattle past my house! I especially love the old trams that really rattle, they sound soo quaint!! None of these smooth swooshing by trams for me. I do, however, hate TRAM TRACKS in pattern repeats! Do you know what I mean?? Once you know about them you will always notice them, it's a bit like a curse - sorry about that! It is just as easy, if not faster to create a seamless, tram trackless pattern repeat. All you need to do is:
1. Set your repeat size – I do this by creating a rectangle in the finished size, for this print 16cm x 16cm
2. Next, I make my Keyboard increments half (1/2) that size — 8cm
3. For the sake of speed, I work out a few clusters of motifs that go in the direction of the finished print and I group these separately — you can see, I wanted this one to be waves of diagonal strips of flowers
4. I like to start with the top left corner corner and then I use the direction keys and alt/option key to copy this — Alt/option + right arrow and then just the down arrow
5. This copies the cluster of motifs once
6. Continue in this manner until the surface of the original square is covered
